This is More Than Just a Photoshoot.
Our relationships are the most important piece to our stories, and within them lies a great longing to be seen and known.
Tapping into those connections, together, we will co-create a feast of images that act as a creative version of therapy. These images will mirror back your beauty, reminding you that the most beautiful things are close.
What if the truth is that the life you long for is already hidden in the life you have? I want to show you glimpses of this.
With curiosity and compassion as my guides, the camera can expose more than just light. These photographs can expose you in the most beautiful and healing ways, showing you that the imperfection of our human experience is a gift. May we no longer seek to hide it!
I’ll invite you to slow down and to be wildly happy. I’ll orient you towards the light- that which is in the room, but more importantly that which is held within you as a family. Your love will lead us to what is true, and good, and beautiful.
If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough. -Robert Capa
We cannot do our jobs from further back. I have to care. I have to bring myself emotionally closer to the subject. -Lynsey Addario
THE FAQS
-
A: You’re laughing. Also, full disclosure, no one has actually asked me that outright. However, I’m a mom of four and before I became a photographer I asked myself this very question when looking for someone to take our family’s photographs. The truth is, there is so much more to it than people imagine, and there are so many behind-the-scenes costs to operating my business, providing my clients with an easy user experience, software and licensing, delivering exceptional online galleries, and the list goes on. I hand edit every image, and anywhere from 20+ hours goes into creating a finished family film. My fees are based on all of that as well as my own internal gauge for what I would be willing to pay.
-
A: Whatever you imagine when you think of a family photography session…forget that. This is much more like having a friend over to hang out for the day, and I just so happen to have a camera with me. I don’t follow you around with my camera in your face the whole time. I’m curious and spend time learning about your family through conversation and observation. I take photographs as moments happen, but I almost never direct you into creating one. I often let your kids be the boss a bit, and see where their childlike imaginations and sense of fun take us. It’s really that easy. Even Dads enjoy it.

A: Yes! I love shooting film, and I would be thrilled to use film during your session. It is an additional cost because, well, film is expensive and scanning is expensive. But you won’t regret it!
-
A: Absolutely. I highly recommend ordering prints through one of my professional vendors, but it isn't required. The difference in quality is huge when it comes to ordering through a professional lab, so I always love to help with prints, framing, and albums.
-
A: In my experience, it’s just too hard to put a standard price on branding work. Please reach out and let’s have a conversation about what you need!
-
A: I’ll be honest. I don’t love mini sessions. The beauty of documentary photography is that time is our best asset, and we’re rushed into bribing anyone to smile or behave. Instead, I’m inviting you and your kids to simply do life together. And trust me, kids can last a lot longer than 30 minutes when they are playing.
But if you’re set on a mini, subscribe to my newsletter because I only offer a handful a year and you won’t want to miss them.
